Meridian Chat - Discussion Board

After a lengthy haietus, Meridian Radio will shortly be relaunching it's service in it's brand new studio, on site at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This will mean that our high quality service will become even better, with stereo broadcasting, a 24 hour service of quality programmes and, more importantly, a closer link to our listeners, the patients and staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. More details of our launch will appear here shortly.

Many thanks for all of your support in helping our presenter Kevin White, raise £100 for Meridian Radio. Kevin raised money by competing in the London Nike 10k and finished 829th out of 20,000 runners in a time of 44:49. If you would like to donate money towards our cause, please send cheques to us here at the station.

Members of the Meridian Radio team took part in a recent fundraising event at Sainsbury's supermarket in Woolwich. Pictured above, from left to right are Kevin White, Tony White, Jessica Leigh, Henry Nicholls, Dave Berry and Mike Bartlett. Meridian Radio needs to raise £8,000 to relocate our studios to the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. This will enable the service to continue nearly 40 years of service to the Hospital community in the area and ensure its future well into the 21st Century. We have numerous fund raising events planned over the Spring and Summer but as a voluntary organisation with no other source of income except membership subscriptions and public donations, Meridian Radio ( call sign of the registered charity The Woolwich Hospitals Broadcasting Service)  is always grateful for any financial assistance. If you would like to make a donation to our service, however small, you can call our 24 hour hotline on 020-8856-1120 or write to Mike Bartlett, Station Manager, Meridian Radio, the Memorial Hospital, Shooters Hill, Woolwich, London SE18 3RZ. Any donations will be gratefully received and acknowledged in writing. Cheques should be made payable to Woolwich Hospitals Broadcasting Service. Our thanks also to Sainsbury's who have made a generous donation to our ' fighting fund '.

The Meridian Radio team are delighted to welcome back into the fold, after an absence of some 17 years, our old friend Doug Welch. Doug is an aficionado
of folk music and will be presenting a new folk music programme on the station
between 9 and 10pm on Monday evenings, starting on 2nd June. News, views, gigs, interviews and the very best in modern and traditional folk music are all planned. Listen in and enjoy, and you'll discover that folk music isn't just for 'folkies'  !
